Detectives Investigating Early Morning Shooting

An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting of an adult male who was shot during a dispute early Wednesday morning.
 
DIMETRIOUS CORNELL SMITH, 41, of Titusville, was arrested at approximately 12:30 PM Wednesday, February 7th 2018 and charged with ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM, USE OF A FIREARM IN THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY and POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON.


Just after 3:30 AM on February 7th 2018, officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 900 block of Gilbert Street.
 
The preliminary investigation reveals what appears to have been a dispute between the suspect and the victim who were known to each other.
 
The victim was transported via helicopter to a Trauma Hospital in serious condition.
 
The suspect fled the scene of the crime and was subsequently located and taken into custody by detectives approximately nine hours later.
 
Dimetrious Cornell Smith was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held without bond.
