Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in U.S. #1 Crash

At approximately 12:00 PM on Sunday, November 19th 2017, Titusville Police responded to a report of a traffic crash with injuries involving a truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of South Washington Avenue (U.S. #1) and the Kennedy Point Condominiums.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Richard L Gavin, 71, of Christmas, was driving a Chevy Silverado 1500 truck southbound on South Washington Avenue and made a U-turn to head northbound on South Washington Avenue.
Gavin failed to maintain a single lane during the U-Turn and struck an adult male victim who was operating a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that was traveling Northbound on South Washington Avenue.
The victim, who was not wearing a motorcycle safety helmet, was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
This traffic crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department and further details will be released upon its conclusion by traffic crash investigators.
