Mayor Proclaims Fire Prevention Week in Titusville

On October 10, Titusville Mayor Ron Swank issued an Official Proclamation, presented to Titusville Life Safety Specialist Reggie Belle, proclaiming October 8 through October 15, 2006 as FIRE PREVENTION WEEK.

In the proclamation Mayor Swank stated, "This week is commemorated across North American and supported by the public safety efforts of fire departments, schools and other safety advocates, in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association.  I call upon the people of Titusville to remember the Fire Prevention Week 2006 caution, Prevent Cooking Fires: Watch What you Heat and urge all citizens to heed the advice to install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and plan and practice fire drills."

Families are also invited to the Fire Department's Family Fire Safety Day on October 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  at the north entrance of Searstown Mall, 550 South Washington Avenue.  The department will have demonstrations, fire truck displays, information booths and interactive fire safety programs, along with an appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog.
