CAUTION: The City of Titusville has received several complaints from citizens in reference to receiving fraudulent telephone calls from subjects claiming to be with the utility department. If you receive a telephone call of this nature and are unsure about the origin of the call, please immediately hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency for further assistance.
Titusville Police stopped two vehicle burglary suspects involved in two separate vehicle burglaries overnight.
Titusville Police responded to two different 911 calls at approximately 12:30 AM and 3:30 AM on Wednesday June 28th 2017 in reference to reports of a suspicious person looking into vehicles.
Eric Eason Ricks, 19, of Mims- Burglary of a Vehicle and Theft, Violation of Probation and Criminal Mischief.
Robert Wesley Curry, 33, of Titusville- Burglary of a Vehicle, Criminal Mischief and Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer without Violence.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, Ricks, had tampered and damaged the steering column of a White Ford Ranger truck during an attempted vehicle theft and burglary. The suspect was located in area of Court Street and Cortez Avenue in possession of stolen items from the truck. Within thirty minutes after the 911 call, the suspect was taken into custody.
Three hours later, police quickly responded to the 4000 block of Mount Sterling Avenue and located the suspect, Curry, sitting in a vehicle that he was attempting to burglarize. Upon sight of police, the suspect fled, and after a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.
Ricks, who is currently on felony probation for Grand Theft of an Automobile, and Curry were booked into the Brevard County Jail.
