Our new Assistant Chief of Police, 14 year department veteran John Lau, was congratulated at a promotion ceremony on October 13th, 2006 at Police Headquarters.
John’s wife pinned on his new badge after Chief Anthony C. Bollinger swore in our new assistant chief at the ceremony. John's family, friends and colleagues were there to congratulate him and wish him the best. John has a tremendous amount of support from the TPD family on his new position.
We recognized the need for this position as we began dealing with the growth the city has been experiencing, and as the services our department offers continues to expand.
John Lau began his career with the Titusville Police Department in 1992. After serving several years as a patrol officer, he transferred to our Criminal Investigations Division as a detective. In 1996, John was recognized as our Department’s Officer of the Year, and then as the Brevard County’s 1996 Detective of the Year.
In 1997, John was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as a supervisor for over 7 years in both Uniformed Patrol and the Investigations Division. In 2003, he was awarded the department’s Supervisor of the Year Award. After several distinguished years as a sergeant, John was promoted to the rank of Commander in 2004.
John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Warner Southern University, and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. In 2005, John attended and graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy, law enforcement’s most premier training opportunity.
“His ethics and integrity are exemplary and he brings a wide variety of quality experience and high level of leadership to this position”, said Chief Anthony C. Bollinger. “John is a tremendous asset to our agency and community alike”, added Bollinger.
