The City of Titusville, Florida / Police / NewsPolice Arrest Wal-Mart Purse SnatcherTitusville Police arrested Christopher Lynn Braun, 25, of Titusville approximately 30 minutes after he allegedly stole a purse out of a vehicle and struck the victim with his vehicle while fleeing the scene.
At 10:45 AM on Friday April 14th 2017, Police responded to a report of purse snatching in the Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot located at 3175 Cheney Highway.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that Braun took the victim’s purse out of her vehicle as she was returning the empty cart to the cart corral. The victim confronted Braun and he subsequently struck the victim with his 2006 Hyundai Sonata as he was fleeing the scene.
Within minutes, Detectives located a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Park Avenue and Dixie Avenue that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle.
Detectives followed the vehicle, where it parked at a residence close by, and Braun was arrested.
Investigative leads led to the recovery of the victim’s cell phone, located in a tree at the intersection of Hickory Hill Boulevard and Cheney Highway, and the victim’s purse and contents located in the bushes on Brittany Way.
The victim suffered only minor injuries.
Christopher Lynn Braun was charged with Burglary to an Unoccupied Conveyance, Grand Theft, and Leaving the Scene of Crash with Injuries. Braun is currently booked into the Brevard County jail with a $22,000 bond.
