Cops Play Santa and Shop with Local Children

2016  2016

Fifty local children attended the Annual Shop With A Cop event on Saturday December 10th 2016.

In a partnership between Titusville Police and the Titusville Police Youth Foundation, kids were given $100 to shop at Wal-Mart in Titusville. Officers and volunteers donated their time for the event and led children on a Holiday Shopping Spree.
Children were paired up with an officer or volunteer at police headquarters at 7:30 a.m. Shoppers were treated to breakfast at McDonald’s restaurant on Cheney Highway and then driven to Wal-Mart in charter busses donated by Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
Santa was waiting at the entrance of Wal-Mart to greet the kids when they arrived.
“This is a rewarding event that we look forward to every year”, said Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson. Hutchinson added, “Sometimes we think our officers have even more fun than the kids!”
Children were selected by local school administrators.
Funds for the Holiday Shopping Spree were provided by a grant from Wal-Mart and monies donated by members of the Titusville community.
