This is skilled work in the operation and maintenance of heavy construction equipment. Incumbent must work efficiently so as not to impede the progress of related operations. Supervision consists primarily in job performance checks at work sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Two years' experience operating and maintaining the equipment utilized in primary assignment plus sufficient physical strength and ability to perform work is required.
Possession of a valid Florida Class "D" driver's license and a Commercial driver's license with endorsements depending on assignment. Must be able to pass a vision and hearing test that is correctable by either glasses or hearing aid. Depending on assignment: Ability to obtain Intermediate Level MOT Certification within 1yr of employment. Must obtain a competent person card through Underground Utilities Contractors of Florida, within one year of employment.
During occasions of local emergencies, this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods away from family members. The Incident Commander and the employee’s department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
Sufficient physical strength/agility to perform heavy manual labor. Labor includes lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and working outside in all types of weather. Must be able to enter, by ladders, confined spaces and large storm water pipes for internal repairs.
