This is skilled work in the operation of street construction, street maintenance/construction or park and median maintenance. Incumbent must work effectively so as not to impede the progress of related operations. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of standard construction equipment. On specific assignments, work is closely supervised by a foreman/supervisor; however, on routine assignments supervision is general in nature.
Depending on assignment: operates roller, large bucket trucks, grappler truck, and mowers; operates small bulldozer in pushing, piling, or clearing land; operates front-end loader; or operates backhoe in digging ditches.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
One year of related experience operating and maintaining heavy trucks and equipment is required.
Must possess a Class “A” or “B" Commercial Driver's license, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire. Subject to emergency call out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. Sufficient physical strength and ability to perform required manual tasks occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
