Skilled work in the operation of automotive equipment used in stormwater operations. Incumbent must work efficiently so as not to impede the progress of related operations. Work is performed near high-traffic areas (highways, roads, etc.) Depending on assignment, operates dump truck, tractor, Bush hog, small bulldozer, slope mower and back hoe. Knowledge of the operation/maintenance of standard heavy equipment required. Reports need for maintenance and repair. Ability to detect needed mechanical work and perform minor adjustments. Knowledge of the hazards of operation and applicable safety rules and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, rules and ordinances governing equipment operation. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a Florida Commercial Class "B" Driver's license with tanker endorsements plus one year of related experience operating and maintaining heavy trucks and equipment.
Depending on assignment, ability to obtain Intermediate Level MOT Certification within one year of employment. Driving record will be checked. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform required manual tasks occasionally under adverse weather conditions, i.e., heat, cold, rain, etc. Bending, stooping, pulling, climbing and lifting up to 50 lbs. is required. Must possess adequate sight and hearing capabilities to receive instructions with regard to work safety operations in the presence of moderate background noise.
