This is responsible administrative and technical work involved in plan reviews, construction inspection and code enforcement activities. Incumbent has supervisory responsibility over Building Plans Manager, plans examiners and development specialists assigned to the Building Department. In addition, expected to anticipate work assignments and make decisions within the scope of assigned duties. Work is assigned/reviewed by and reports to the Building Official.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required plus 10 years’ experience or equivalent, as an architect, engineer, inspector, contractor or superintendent of construction, or any combination of which five (5) years shall have been in responsible charge of work.
Must be a Florida State Certified under F.S. 468 as a Building Code Administrator, Plans Examiner and Building Inspector. Possession of a valid Florida driver's license and dependable transportation required. May be required to perform the inspections for Housing and Community Development. Must be computer knowledgeable including Microsoft Windows. Must be able to climb ladders, negotiate uneven terrain (building construction sites) lift 50#, ladders, etc.
During occasions of local emergencies, this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods away from family members. The Incident Commander and the employee’s department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
