|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This is a highly skilled professional and supervisory position responsible for planning, construction, operation and maintenance of stormwater systems. As an operational division head, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Stormwater Utility including operation and maintenance of the stormwater system, and implementation of NPDES best management practices. Additional responsibilities include budget preparation and administration, stormwater bill and credit determinations, and customer relations. All work is performed under the general direction of the Water Resources Administrator, but with minimum direct supervision. Incumbent is expected to anticipate work assignments, exercise independent judgment, effectively communicate with supervisor, staff and peers and make decisions within the scope of his/her responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences, engineering, public administration or related field is required. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in stormwater management is required. Must include two (2) years of supervisory experience. A post graduate degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience.
Must possess a valid Florida Operator's driver's license. Subject to emergency call-out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. Must be able to respond to emergency call outs within 20 minutes. Ability to visit work sites, walking on uneven terrain and in unimproved areas. Ability to read printed material and hear sounds. Ability to operate a vehicle on a daily basis. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including computer and telephones.
During occasions of local emergencies this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods of time away from family members. The Incident Commander and the employee’s department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
