This is technical and skilled work developing, modifying, implementing and coordinating the parameters and details of the Lift Station Mechanical and Electrical Preventive Maintenance Programs with responsibility for directing a group of unskilled and semi-skilled workers engaged in the daily maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and machinery of the municipal pumping stations and municipal facilities. Incumbent must have significant job knowledge of the varied activities and handles routine assignments with little direct supervision. Exercises independent judgment and makes decisions within the scope of specific assignments. Assignments are received both verbally and in writing. Work is performed under the direction of the Wastewater Collections Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required. Three years of responsible work in skilled maintenance and repair work of sanitary sewer lift stations including some supervisory experience. Must possess a Class “B” Wastewater Collection Technician Certification within one year from date of hire. Must possess a Flygt Pump school training certification or obtain within one year of employment. Proficient knowledge of computer and software applications, i.e., word-processing, spreadsheet, personal computer applications, report preparation, and project tracking.
Possession of a valid Florida Commercial Class “A” Operator's driver's license with endorsements. Subject to long hours, possible weekend work, and 24-hour on-call status.
Sufficient physical strength/agility to perform heavy manual labor. Labor includes lifting up to 85 lbs., bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and working outside in all types of weather. Must be able to enter, by ladders, confined spaces and large storm water pipes for internal repairs. Must possess adequate sight and hearing capabilities to receive and give orders or directions in regard to work safety operations in the presence of moderate background noise.
