This is technical work involved with operating and maintaining a laboratory for sampling and testing potable water and/or wastewater. Supervision is received from the Laboratory Supervisor. Work is subject to general supervision and a review of laboratory techniques and results.
- Sets up and adjusts laboratory apparatus.
- Prepares reagents for bacteriological and chemical analysis.
- Collects samples, performs advanced analyses including nutrients, cyanides and phenols, as outlined in department standards, and records results.
AS degree in Chemistry or Biology is required plus one year of laboratory experience. A combination of education and equivalent laboratory experience may be considered.
Must possess a valid Florida Operator's driver's license.
During occasions of local emergencies this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods of time away from family members. The Incident Commander and the employee’s department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
