|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This is skilled work in a variety of garbage collection, recycling and maintenance tasks. Incumbent handles routine assignments with little direct supervision. On specific assignments, work is closely supervised by a foreman/supervisor in a job performance check at work site. Performs skilled welding and metal work. An employee in this class of work is responsible for performing a variety of welding and metal-working tasks involving fabrication, alteration, reconditioning, repair and/or maintenance of dumpster containers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate with three (3) years’ experience in welding and maintenance, supplemented with heavy equipment operation. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Possession of a valid Florida Class “B” Commercial driver’s license with air brakes. Formal on-the-job training required as follows: Mild Steel Welder Helper (300 hours) Shielded Metal Arc (300 hours) or equivalent. Subject to emergency call-out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. Must have home phone. Visual and hearing ability. Sufficient physical strength/agility to perform heavy manual labor. Skill in repairing refuse containers which involves standing, walking, lifting of 50 + lbs., bending, pushing, pulling and reaching, and working outside in all types of weather.
DURING OCCASIONS OF LOCAL EMERGENCIES THIS POSITION MAY BE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO PERFORM EMERGENCY TASKS, WHICH MAY RESULT IN EXTENDED WORK HOURS AS WELL AS EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME AWAY FROM FAMILY MEMBERS.
