|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This is skilled mechanical work of the journeyman level in the repair/maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered construction and related public works equipment. Incumbent works under general supervision using independent judgment as to method of repair after receiving oral instructions or written work orders as to the nature of the job, and may direct others during the course of repairs. Work is normally reviewed by the Chief Mechanic.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required plus three years' experience as an automotive or diesel engine mechanic. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Possession of a valid CDL license. Must supply own tools. Subject to emergency call out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. Requires bending, stooping, climbing, lifting not to exceed 50 pounds. Sufficient strength and agility to work long hours outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Manual dexterity to perform very intricate mechanical repairs. Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces (i.e. packer body, service pit).
