Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                                                                                  
This is responsible and technical work in the area of fire prevention. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Fire Marshal and is responsible for fire inspections and the enforcement of the Fire Codes and City Ordinances, in a professional and courteous manner. The incumbent also has the responsibility to deal with internal and external customers fairly and consistently so as to maintain the integrity of the Fire Prevention division. Incumbent may also be required to promote fire prevention through presentations and other public education related activities. Performs other work as required.
High school graduate or equivalent is required. A current State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification and valid Florida Class “E” Driver’s license is also required. 

During occasions of local emergencies, this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods of time away from family members. Ability to work in heat, cold, around noises and other undesirable weather conditions.  Ability to hear and comprehend conversations spoken (in English) at various speeds.  Ability to read and write in English. Must be capable of walking, sitting, standing and climbing ladders while performing fire inspections. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
