This is technical work in the operation of a municipal water/wastewater reclamation treatment plant and auxiliary facilities on assigned shift. Assists the Chief Treatment Plant operator with the supervision and management of available resources and projects to provide effective, efficient plant operations. Assists with training of personnel on facility process control, operational protocols, equipment operation procedures and standard safety practices. Determines operational status of equipment requests and coordinates necessary electrical, mechanical and instrumentation repairs. Assists with preparation of plant records and reports. Inspects plant log records, gauges, meters and other plant testing and measuring devices. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Assists with evaluation of team member performance. Must possess knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of water/wastewater treatment plant operations. Knowledge of the machines, equipment and related requirements of a complex treatment plant. Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures as related to water/wastewater treatment and analysis.
FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required. Must possess State of Florida Class “A” Certified Water or Wastewater Operator’s License or ability to obtain the same within one year. Prefer two to four years of progressively responsible experience in water/wastewater field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; bending, stooping, pulling, climbing and working in all types of weather, i.e. heat, cold, rain, etc. Ability to read printed material and hear sound. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, spectrophotometers, pH meters, color meters, pressure washers, lawn mowers, etc. Must have the ability to respond to off-duty calls within 30 minutes. Schedule may include odd workweeks. Subject to emergency call-out hours and on weekend as required. Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
